Ka mbrojtur doktoratën në fizikë dhe është autor i katër romaneve: "Vetmia e numrave prim" (2008, fitoi çmimin "Strega" dhe çmimin "Campiello Opera Prima"), "Trupi i njeriut" (2012), "E zeza dhe e argjendta" (2014 dhe 2017) dhe "Të përpish qiellin" (2018 dhe 2019). Ka shkruar për teatrin ("Galois" dhe "Fundi i dënimit: tani") dhe bashkëpunon me gazetën "Corriere della sera".
