This Retreat Manual has been compiled by the Right Reverend Monsignor
Francis P. Johns, S.T.D., Rector of the St. Joseph Diocesan Retreat House,
with hope that it will serve to enrich the spiritual tone of the retreats.

Our blessed Lord's words: "For where there are two or three gathered
together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." (Matt. 18.20),
should find their realization in a house of retreats, especially when a
manual of this type is put into the hands of the retreatants.

May it serve as a spiritaul bond to the retreatants while they are here,
and may it go with them as a faithful companion to encourage and
strengthen them when they face again the trials and temptations
of the world.

The side edges of the pages look yellowed and dingy.
