Offered here is an antique bronze plated statuette of a work entitled "Le Jour". Made of spelter and plated in bronze, this dates from the 1890's. Mounted on the original wood base, the metal plate is missing that showed the title and perhaps the artist, which I am unable to determine. It's a beautiful piece from the art nouveau period and SHOULD NOT be confused with a later release of this same piece that was released in the 1920's. The one significant difference I have seen is those all seem to be about 15 inches in height, while this one is about 17 3/4" plus the 2 1/2" wooden base.
UniSquare Item ID Number:
I have also been unable to determine the manufacturer, but please note the arm crack was not completely through the arm...i.e.. it never broke off. For an item made of spelter over 120 years ago, this is in relatively good shape and would look great as is on any antique lover's shelf.
