Military Collectibles (Militaria)

Militaria is a term that describes wartime memorabilia and wartime antiques. These are mainly classified into Original Period or Reproduction / Replica items. Original period militaria are items that were either used in the war, or were from the actual time period of the war. The type of vintage or modern items mainly range from medals, insignia, military uniforms, armor, swords, knives, helmets, buttons, wristwatches, tools, gear, challenge coins, wartime art, patches, badges and a lot more. Some of them may have even been worn on the battlefield, while other are awarded after wartime.

Another kind of militaria exists on the homefront away from the battle itself. These type of items can include morale-inspiring propaganda posters, war bonds, postcards, history books and other memoirs. Collectible military antiques can be collected for it's historical significance and the value is determined like many collectibles, by it's condition and rarity. Although oftentimes, militaria is held on to for it's of sentimental value, especially if it's been used in battle or passed down through the family to newer generations. Sometimes, no monetary value can be placed on these.
